Denver – A “Small” Parish With a Big Heart

On Sunday, August 31, the basketball court in the courtyard of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Denver hosted another successful Trojka iz Bloka event, organized by Serbs for Serbs USA. Once again, the Denver community—small in size but enormous in spirit—showed its commitment to charity and unity.

Thanks to the generosity of all participants, visitors, and donors from Denver and throughout Colorado, an impressive total of $13,835 was raised. All proceeds will go toward helping socially vulnerable families supported through Serbs for Serbs humanitarian programs.

This year’s tournament welcomed 33 competitors, and the champion made history in a special way:
The winner was Fr. Radovan “Raša” Petrović, of Denver and Ravna Gora—likely the first and only priest to ever win first place in a humanitarian three-point shooting competition!

Second place went to Saša Jakšić, and third place was claimed by Jovan Petrović, the third of four sons of Fr. Radovan and Popadija Ivana—an inspiring Serbian family and shining example of unity and dedication.

The event also included a half-court shooting contest, and the winners were:
- Gvozden Petrović
- Roman Jestratijević
- Milan Petrović
What made this event even more meaningful was the support from the Serbian community in Aspen. Although they could not attend in person, 36 donors from Aspen sent their contributions, offering heartfelt support and a powerful display of brotherly love.
Once again, Denver proved that the strength of a community is not measured by its size but by the kindness of its people. Thank you to everyone who contributed—whether by participating, donating, or simply spreading the spirit of charity.
