Donate a gold coin of hope for the CHRISTMAS ČESNICA!

At early dawn, as the wood burning stove crackles softly, a mother’s hands knead the Christmas česnica dough on a table dusted white with flour. After blessing the dough with the sign of the cross, she hides the family’s gold coin inside it—a pledge of health, unity, and prosperity in the year to come. The whole family gathers around the table to break the česnica, and while the children eagerly hope to find the coin, the older members greet Christmas with peace in their hearts, knowing that the most beautiful memories are born in these moments.
Unfortunately, in many homes the holiday scene looks very different. The stove is cold, the flour is scarce, and instead of a česnica, children break yesterday’s stale bread. Instead of children’s laughter, the wind whistles through broken windows and extinguishes a faint candle.
With a strong belief that no child should spend the holidays in such conditions, this year’s Christmas fundraiser transforms every donation into a gold coin of hope that will brighten homes and bring holiday joy.
In practice, this means real, tangible help—a warm room instead of cold walls, a dry roof instead of buckets catching water from the ceiling, windows without drafts, a stove that heats, and rooms equipped with beds, wardrobes, and desks.
Let the smell of česnica fill the homes we reach, and may children’s smiles finally shine!
The Charity organization Serbs for Serbs invites all people of good will to symbolically create one great Christmas česnica with their donations—for Anđela, Aleksandar, Marija Magdalena, Marko, Iskra, and hundreds of other vulnerable children across the Balkans!
Let each of us add our grain of goodness as a living testimony to Christ’s love and mercy!
Anđela (4)

The Perić family from Kopana Glavica near Majdanpek is yet another family that lost everything in a fire. For years, Slaviša, Sanela, Marija (9), Milena (7), Nemanja (5), and Anđela (4) lived in an improvised school building. Then, a few months ago, they were forced to leave.
They had no choice but to move into a house they still haven’t been able to finish, as they live only on day-wage work.
Anđela’s biggest wish is to have a carefree childhood!
We plan to provide a house for the Perić family. More than €40,000 is needed to complete the project.
Aleksandar (9) and Relja (5)

An old, dilapidated house in the hamlet of Cer near Preševo is home to the Marković family: Stefan, Jelena, Aleksandar (9), and Relja (5). Because the windows are falling apart, the wind blows in from every direction, so in winter they even cover their heads with a blanket to stay warm.
Their rooms are full of cracks and holes, and the children are afraid there may be snakes inside.
Aca and Relja’s greatest wish is to have a warm room!
We plan to provide a house for the Marković family. More than €50,000 is needed to complete the project.
Marija Magdalena (5) and Iskra (3 months)

The Lopatić family lives in Srebrenica on the sixth floor of a building with no elevator. Siniša, Vesna, Marija Magdalena (5), Vasilije (4), Atanasije (3), and baby Iskra (3 months) spend their days in a cramped apartment.
Life on the sixth floor without an elevator, with four small children, is far from easy. Carrying strollers, bags, and groceries every day—these hardworking parents do it without complaint, because they know who they live for and why they struggle.
Marija Magdalena and little Iskra dream of having a house with a yard, where there will be room for all of them!
We plan to buy a house for the Lopatić family. More than €40,000 is needed to complete the project.
Lara (6)

The Stanković family from the village of Stance near Vranje includes grandfather Dragan, grandmother Blagica, father Nikola, mother Milica, and children Nikolina (8), Lara (6), Iva (5), Vuk (4), and Vukan (1).
Their home is under constant threat of a landslide, and the cracks on the walls grow larger every day. They live in constant fear and danger.
Little Lara’s biggest wish is to have a safe home!
We plan to provide a house for the Stanković family. More than €50,000 is needed to complete the project.
Nikola (10) and Marko (12)

The Cvijanović family from Pelagićevo consists of single mother Vahida and children Marko (12), Ruža (11), Nikola (10), Dušanka (8), and Milanka (6). Their lives changed tragically a few years ago when the father, who worked as a truck driver, passed away unexpectedly. He left behind an unfinished house, a loan, and five children he will never hug again.
Despite everything, kind-hearted Vahida did not give up. Carrying a sorrow that never fades and a burden few could bear, she took everything upon herself. In addition to raising the children, she also cares for her late husband’s elderly and ill parents, not separating one duty from another.
Nikola and Marko’s wish is to see their father’s house finally completed!
We plan to finish the Cvijanović family’s house. More than €30,000 is needed to complete the project.
