Palacinka Party – Bigger and Better Than Ever!

Palacinka Party – Bigger and Better Than Ever!

Sunday, May 13th, Serbs for Serbs Canada hosted its 5th annual Palacinka Party. The Serbian Centre in Mississauga was once again the venue for this fundraiser, where almost 300 people came to sample the 1,400 prepared palacinke. Within an hour and a half, all the palacinke were gone and $8,105.45 were raised for the Lujanov family from Dobrica Village, Alibunar, Serbia.

Pulling off a successful event requires a lot of support and SFS Canada is blessed to be surrounded by so many generous people. We would like to give thanks to:

– The All Serbian Saints Serbian Orthodox Church Board and KSS for once again allowing us use of the Serbian Centre and its kitchen

-All the kitchen volunteers who arrived as early as 7:00 a.m. to start preparation of the palacinke

-All the women who brought in palacinke made in advance at home

-The servers, set-up and clean-up crews

-MC and tech specialist, Bojan Radulovic

-Photographer Alex Brkic

-Maria Sestic who came early in the morning to ensure the Centre was clean and ready to go

-Our friends from Windsor, Niagara Falls and Hamilton who showed up to offer their support

-Serbian Media: Vesti (Gorana Gligorevic), Novine (Ivana Djordjevic), RTS (Branka Dikanovic) and Serbian TV Toronto (Milan Cobanov)

-The many people who came to sample our palacinke and donate generously to our fundraiser.

This amazing turnout energizes our SFS Canada executive board to keep working for needy Serbian families in the Balkans. This year, we welcomed Nemanja Pjanic and Milos Kostich to our board. We are very excited to have them as part of our SFS family. And they are already working with us on our next fundraiser, Odbojka iz Bloka, to be held in Toronto on June 2nd.

Serbs for Serbs invites everyone to be part of our growing number of supporters. If we each do a little, so many will be helped. We have the power to offer struggling Serbian families in the Balkans the promise of a better tomorrow. Let’s keep in touch and let’s do it together.
