The Charity organization Serbs for Serbs marked a major milestone – 20 years of humanitarian work.

The organization celebrated its 20th anniversary on November 13, in a full MTS Hall in Belgrade, Serbia, in the presence of numerous donors, volunteers, members, and friends of the organization, as well as bishops, monastics, and clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The event also welcomed members of the Serbs for Serbs USA chapter, who joined in celebrating two decades of charitable work done together.

The program opened with “A Toast to the Serbian People” performed by Gojko Baletić, followed by introductory remarks and a blessing from Bishop Ilarion of Novo Brdo, Vicar of the Serbian Patriarch. The event was co-hosted in dialogue form by actress Vesna Stanković and Marija Morović from Serbs for Serbs.

The musical segment featured performances by Nikola and Bojana Peković, as well as the Broadway Performing Arts Center, whose appearances enriched the celebratory program.

This was followed by a screening of the documentary “The Calling” directed by Dejan Stojanović, dedicated to the mission of the organization and focused on the individual and his or her significance in humanitarian work. After the film, the audience was addressed by the President of Serbs for Serbs in Serbia, Darko Lojaničić—who came on stage with his four children—as well as the film’s director, Dejan Stojanović.

Lojaničić reminded everyone of the essence of the organization with words that left a strong impression on those present: “The truth is simple – behind this organization stands the Serbian people. And, believe it or not, Serbian unity! Because only unity saves the Serbs.”

After him, director Dejan Stojanović shared his personal message about creating the film: “While making this film with the wonderful people from Serbs for Serbs, I felt God’s presence at every moment and fully surrendered to His hand. The character of Stretko is me, but he is also each of us—we are truly alive only when we understand that by helping others, we help ourselves.”

The formal program concluded with a performance by the First Belgrade Singing Society, which presented two compositions: “The Victory Song”, accompanied by photographs of families from all regions where the organization has worked, and “Oh Kosovo”, which the entire hall, together with the children’s choir, sang standing.

The event was filled with emotion, gratitude, and shared pride in everything accomplished over two decades for families across the Balkans.

To date, the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs has helped over 3,700 families with more than 18,000 children, and with the support of donors worldwide, has raised over 21 million euros in donations.
