The Milanovićs are the future of the Serbian community in Trpinja near Vukovar. They need a roof over their heads!
The heroes of this story are Radoslav and Suzana Milanović from Trpinja, near Vukovar, and their four precious children, Jelena (8), Nikola (5), Luka (3) and Sanjin (2). They are a young married couple who decided, despite obstacles that would hold someone else back such as being in their early twenties without a roof over their heads, to have a large family.
Even as teenagers, Radoslav and Suzana decided on an independent life and a journey into the unknown. That path led them from one accommodation to another for ten years. In the end, they settled in a decent rental house in Trpinja. During that journey, children were born, but the solution to the housing problem was not resolved, particularly when both come from poor families.
You caught us off guard with such a quick visit.” We heard about your organization, so we decided to send you a letter. We inquired a little with our priests, and we received confirmation from them that if anyone can help, it is you. I work, the salary is small, my wife is at home with the children. We have been tenants in this house for a couple of years. Everything you need for children is close by, including a school, a kindergarten, and a store, so we wouldn’t want to go anywhere from here – Radoslav explained.
Unfortunately, that house has been put up for sale.
We pay 50 euros rent. We invested a little in it, as much as we could afford, even though it is not ours. Now the sale has unsettled us a little, after we had just nicely settled in – Radoslav added worriedly.
Everyone followed the conversation closely, how could they not, when what is at stake is solving a life issue for the whole family. 25,000 euros are necessary for the house.
The Milanovićs are the largest family in the area, and it is of particular importance that their children are quite young and just about to start school. Those familiar with events in Croatia, when it comes to national minorities, know that big problems arise when an insufficient number of Serbian children are enrolled in school.
Taking all of the above into account, the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs made a decision to launch another major fundraiser on the territory of Croatia.
Let’s help the Milanovićs!
