Three-pointer from the Block in Chicago for the 7th year in a row
For the 7th year in a row, our Charity Organization Serbs for Serbs organized the now-infamous Charity 3-Point tournament Three-pointer from the Block in Chicago on Sunday, June 9th, 2019 at Veteran’s Park, Lyons, IL.
On a day that didn’t promise to be good, with rain and dark clouds looming all around, the stage was set, and the competitors/donors showed up, the rain stopped, and the tournament was on! The tournament was a success yet again in that we were able to raise $10,230 for impoverished Serbian families in the Balkans.
The 1st round of competition saw 62 competitors trying to ignore the threatening clouds and make it to the prestigious second round. As has become the trend, there were plenty of returning champions and top finishers from previous years, trying to claim the title of Three-pointer from the Block Chicago Champion!!! So the competition became heated and ended up coming down to the last few shots. Eventually, we were able to name a new Champion for 2019. 14 year Luka Gogic claimed the champions trophy and became the youngest ever to win the title in the US. Second place was just as prestigious in that long-time competitor Ljiljana Losic became the first woman to claim a winners spot in the tournament in the US. Interestingly enough, third place went to newcomer Filip Cosic, the brother of last year’s champion Pavle Cosic.
As with past years, we were lucky to have a great group of sponsors who helped make this tournament possible. A very special thank you for their contributions goes to Kampfer Dental, White City Logistics, Atlas Solutions, American Motor Freight, Maybach International Group, JD Factors, Pilsen Properties, Paragon Freight Inc, Bizzmark Logistics, 3 Star Logistics, Accolade Design, ADR Custom Builders, 2N Licensing, Beograd Café Interaction Repair and D&L Solutions. We would also like to thank the Village of Lyons for yet again allowing us to host this great tournament on their basketball courts at Veteran’s Park.
We are so thrilled that we have such great support from our community, and we can only hope that our tournament continues to grow each year. The money raised at our event makes a huge impact for these struggling families.
THANK YOU, EVERYONE, for your support!
